How do you recommend or tell neighbors, friends, and family to hire or avoid a certain company or product? Most people will research testimonials and reviews before hiring a company or signing a contract for work done on their home. Still, the most trustworthy recommendations or complaints are from word of mouth from friends, family, or neighbors.
We trust our best friends, parents, and close neighbors regarding recommendations for things around our homes. If they had a negative experience with company A but a great one with company B, you’d likely hire company B for the work. Likewise, if you had a negative experience with any service, you’d likely tell them to steer clear and hire someone else.

Common Gutter Issues We’ve Discovered
Throughout the years, we’ve dismantled thousands of gutter systems before we installed our gutter product, and in those dismantles we’ve discovered several gutter issues. Below are some of the common gutter issues we’ve seen in Kansas City homes:
Clogged Gutters
We can’t even count how many clogged gutters we’ve encountered throughout the years, but it’s the most common gutter issue we discover. Gutters clog when debris is left to sit and collect inside a half-round gutter. Debris will inevitably find its way inside a gutter that doesn’t have a gutter guard. Some gutter screens and filters are designed to keep debris out but cause more issues by trapping debris and creating a shelf for debris to collect on. Clogged gutters cause all sorts of damage including sagging gutters, basement flooding, roof damage, and even structural damage.
It’s shocking how many gutters have been clogged when we start to dismantle them. We’ve found extreme amounts of wet, heavy leaves, insects, twigs, bird nests, silt, pine needles, and even creepy crawlers. Debris will impede water flow, forcing water to flow over the gutter and seeping underneath roof shingles. It’s paramount to perform gutter maintenance if you have half-round gutters or you could have clogged gutters that are causing a whole slew of issues.
Sagging Gutters
We can’t tell you how many sagging gutters we’ve discovered through the years, but the number is high. Unfortunately, sagging gutters are a common gutter issue that can cause extreme damage to other parts of the home if not discovered with a gutter replacement. Gutters sag when they can’t support the weight of stormwater or meltwater, either from previous damage or too small of gutters that can’t handle large amounts of rainwater or meltwater. Sagging gutters pose a danger to the home’s siding, roof, and the rest of the gutter system since they put excess weight on the system, potentially tearing it away and causing extreme damage.
Kansas City is no stranger to heavy rain. Our rainy season can dump large amounts of precipitation, forcing our gutter systems to work in overdrive to collect and drain rainwater away from the home. Unfortunately, traditional half-round gutters can’t support the weight of excess water, causing them to sag over time. We’ve encountered many homes with sagging gutters and it’s crucial to replace them as soon as possible to avoid further damage.
Foundation Damage
A home’s foundation supports the entire house and needs to be well-maintained to avoid structural damage. Unfortunately, we’ve discovered many homes with foundation damage caused by faulty gutters. Foundations can crack and crumble from excess water that collects around the foundation, most often caused by faulty gutters that leak and force water to spill over the sides. All this water eventually forms a trench around the foundation.
Soil Erosion
You work hard to keep your landscaping in great shape, treating weeds each spring and summer, applying a preemergent, and watering the lawn, shrubs, and flowers when we’re in a drought. Unfortunately, all this hard work can be erased from faulty gutters that dump water around garden beds and landscaping near the gutters, causing soil erosion. Repairing or replacing a wonky gutter system is crucial to avoid soil erosion so grass, plants, and flowers can continue to grow and flourish instead of being washed away by excess water.
How K-Guard Resolved These Common Gutter Issues
Though the above common gutter issues have been seen at countless installation jobs, we can resolve most issues by installing the K-Guard Leaf Free Gutter System! Our gutter product is an entire system with multiple components that collect and drain water away from the home while offering homeowners a lifetime, transferable warranty. So, how does installing K-Guard resolve common gutter issues? For one, our gutter system has a curved hood that keeps debris out, eliminating clogged gutters. Because our gutters never clog, they won’t sag, leak, or tear away from the home.
Our gutters and downspouts are also oversized to allow more water to flow through the system quickly, something most other gutter systems can’t offer. Our larger downspouts can handle a minimum of 22 inches of rain per hour, much more than other systems. K-Guard also mounts above the floodplain, eliminating sagging gutters that can tear away.
Our expert installation team will dismantle your current gutter system and install K-Guard Gutters by mounting it above the floodplain. Our curved hood will prevent debris from entering the system, allowing large amounts of precipitation to enter the gutters and quickly be drained through our oversized downspouts while never clogging.
Real Homeowner Reviews
We have thousands of satisfied customers across our service areas including Kansas City, Overland Park, Topeka, Olathe, Lee’s Summit, and many more. Below are some real homeowner reviews highlighting how K-Guard resolved their gutter issues:
September 2023
After a big storm loosened my old gutters, I decided to replace them with new gutters/gutter guards. Where I live, we get a lot of heavy rain, so it’s important to move that water out and away from the house quickly and efficiently. My old ones always filled up with leaves and twigs falling from lots of tall trees. Time for a change. I checked out 3 gutter/gutter guard companies and chose K-Guard. I liked their product the best. It’s all one piece with no seams made on-site to fit the measurements of the house. The gutters are deep and ideally suited for the heavy thunderstorms we get in the Midwest. The gutter guards prevent leaves and twigs from getting in the gutters. Since I’ve had them installed, we got 3 heavy thunderstorms pretty soon after, and they performed as advertised. I have peace of mind. The sales rep also helped me pick out a color that looked best with my house. I really like them, and they look good. Mission accomplished. -Mary S.
January 2024
I have had my K-Guard gutters for a little over a year now, and could not be happier with the product and service I receive from K-Guard. I used to worry about flooding during summer storms when the leaves and cotton started to build up in my old gutters, and when my husband was on a ladder cleaning them out. With K-Guard, I don’t even have to think about my gutters, I can enjoy each season knowing that they work. We recently had to have the gutters removed and reinstalled to install a new roof. Jeremy was responsive and helpful every step of the way from contacting our insurance company, to collaborating with the roofing contractor, to ensuring that his crew was here on time to remove and reinstall the system. Their lifetime warranty and service guarantee are real – they have been here for me well beyond the sale. These gutters are well worth the investment. -Melissa A.
April 2024
Last summer, we had older gutters and were dealing with an erosion problem. We compared different systems and spoke with Kguard. The salesman was very knowledgeable about guttering systems and their product. He didn’t rush the sale and even recommended we fix the erosion problem before the installation. Fast forward, during our last major rain and wind storm a representative came out and looked at our gutters to make sure there was no damage and that they were working properly. This is going beyond what most companies do after the sale. Sometimes paying a little more for a professional company, superior product, and excellent customer service is worth it. Recommend 100% the company and product. -Ronald S.

They were prompt, professional, and went above and beyond. The job was excellent, no more cleaning my gutters plus it looks beautiful! -Donna N.
